Discussion Topics:

May 27-28 deployment

Deployment went off without a hitch.  Currently Bruce is at M0 and Mack is at Santa Cruz site.

Have had minor issues with over-currenting on PS, and puck sticking in the hand, but feel these problems are minor and will not jeopardize the mission.

ESP Builds

Once all parts are in hand, it takes 2 months to construct instrument and hand to science for checkout.  This is double what we had thought it takes, but with more assembly experience we have seen the error of earlier (optimistic) estimates.

2009 Proposal preparations

Much discussion on what could be accomplished from original 2008 goals. This must be scoped in order to prepare 2009 proposal.  Early next week, Jim will get labor estimates on agreed-upon-goals for 2008.

Tech Transfer

  •  Neo being worked on and will be ready for Science next week.  They need to run experiments, as well as we all need a working spare should one of the deployed instruments crash.
  • Moe will be the MFB integration machine.  Will decide roughly where AIV will be placed, and then Cheri can continue with Moe build.  Addie will work with team to decide where to put MFB.

 MFB

  • Addie has replaced ATV, ARV, all tubing.  First slug through the top of the PCR module worked!  Running a second at end of Friday.
  • SPE columns:  We purchased 3 @ $45; now 3 @ $120.  She ordered 8 pkgs of 3 and 3 holders.
  • Must run water-quality samples when Chris P. gets back from meeting.  Schedule for week of June 16.
  • Addie to start building the next MFB ASAP.
  • Ball screws have jumped in price because of coating issue.  Will talk with Doug about using a different (cheaper) ball screw.
  • Spoke of getting device history, esp VICI--how do they handle/treat their valves during/after manufacture?
  • Want to be able to save LED data from PCR block; must work with Brent to be able to automatically save the data-object.

Software

  • ESP share was backed-up yesterday.  Brent making CD of all data.  ESP share should be better organized as it is currently full with lots of junk.
  • Stopped and re-started Mack to perform a network fix.  Should not effect anything since we have 4 down days (next run is Monday evening)
  • Next deployment, we will set-up deployment passwords different from lab passwords so no confusion as to which machine you're on.

DWSM

•    schedule CDR--set for Tuesday, JUNE 10th.

GUI development
